Opportunities
Six-month opportunities for volunteer interim pastors.
Volunteer interim pastors from America serve in back-to-back interim pastor assignments of approximately 6 months duration in British Baptist churches. These interim pastors must be self-supporting by living on their pensions or by arranging financial support because small churches in Britain cannot afford to pay a salary. The goal of AIPM is to help these churches grow until they can afford the salary of a British Baptist pastor.
Experienced American pastors and other church staff member as well as God-called lay leaders have the skills and experience to do the work of interim pastor. Because cultural differences are significant, a comprehensive orientation is given before the initial assignments as interim pastor in the UK.
For interim pastors the UK church provides a house or flat with utility bills paid, a car with insurance and road taxes paid and reimburses for visa and airline ticket expenses.
This ministry has also found that American university students are of great value to UK churches for assignments of 2 months to 2 years. These volunteers serve as youth and children’s workers. The university students pay for their own airline tickets and visas, but the British Baptist church provides meals and lodging in homes of church members.
