Short-Term Pastors
Volunteer short-term pastors from America serve in back-to-back short-term pastor assignments of approximately 6 months duration (12 months would be ideal) in British Baptist churches. These short-term pastors must be self-supporting by living on their pensions or by arranging financial support because small churches in Britain cannot afford to pay a salary.
Experienced American pastors and other church staff member as well as God-called lay leaders have the skills and experience to do the work of a short-term pastor.
For short-term pastors the UK church provides a house or flat with utility bills paid, a car with insurance and road taxes paid and reimburses for visa and airline ticket expenses. Short-term pastors pay all living expenses and the Immigration Health Surcharge.
Youth Workers
This ministry has also found that American university students and recent graduates are of great value to UK churches for assignments of 2 months to 2 years. These volunteers serve as youth and children’s workers.
The university students pay for their own airline tickets and visas and Immigration Health Surcharge, but the British Baptist church provides meals and lodging in homes of church members, and local transportation such as bus passes and a nominal living expenses allowance.
