Completed Ministries
Where and when American volunteers have served in the UK.
American volunteers have been serving in British Baptist churches since April 2000. Initial assignments were as interim pastors only, but as the ministry developed youth and children’s workers began serving and on 3 occasions, project teams have helped with construction work in these churches.
The goal for interim pastors is to help the church grow until they can afford the salary of a British Baptist pastor. The amount of time required to reach this point has varied, but it appears that some 2 to 5 years may be required. The goal for youth and children’s workers is to build that work up to the point that the UK church can justify adding youth and children’s workers to their ministerial staff.
Project teams have been effective in such work as installing new floors, converting toilets for use by disabled persons and installing room partitions and new doors.
